Q: Does it hurt?
A person’s pain tolerance is subjective so it is hard to gauge. There are some places that are more sensitive than others but most folks describe it as like having a sunburn. Most of our clients getting tattoos for the first time comment on how it is nothing compared to what they initially thought. In some areas and for cosmetic tattooing, we do use a topical to keep the area as pain free as possible. Fun Fact: We have also found that folks who were born biologically female have a higher threshold.
Q: How long before my tattoo is healed?
There are a few different factors depending on your body, your immune system and how it heals. Most attention to aftercare should be followed for about two weeks. It does take longer to be fully healed. We tend to wait 6 weeks before follow up appointments for cosmetic tattooing or tattoos that require more than one session.
Q: Can I tattoo over my scar?
Yes as long as it is healed. We usually suggest 6 months minimum but some scars require longer healing time. We would suggest that you have a consultation with your artist to better plan for your tattoo.
Q: How soon after I get tattooed can I go into a swimming pool / hot tub?
It is not recommended to swim in fresh water lakes, ponds, pool or relax in hot tubs for a minimum of 2-3 weeks. Ideally it is best to wait a month.
Q: How much does it cost?
The cost is determined by a few factors including size, placement, detail and design, plus the cost of set up materials (ink, tools,…Etc.) to gauge a cost you would need to have a consultation with your artist.
Q: Do you do UV sensitive tattoos (glow in the dark)?
We do not offer UV tattoos because we would like to see better pigments for this purpose that can ease our safety and health care concerns.
Q: Do you do Henna tattoos?
Most folks that ask this are not completely sure what they are asking for. Henna tattoo style is different than tattoos that use Henna. Henna is a temporary stain and we do not use it. We do not do temporary tattooing. We can do real tattoos of the Henna style designs.
Q: What is the process for making an appointment?
We recommend that you first look over our books or website and see which artist’s style and aesthetics match your own. Then give a call to the studio and book an appointment for tattooing (if you already have the artwork you want) or a consultation (if you need the artist to draw something for you.) If you do not get through please speak clearly and leave a message with your name, number, and best time to reach you. If you are calling for cosmetic tattooing please also leave an email address. Someone will return your call asap.
If you are coming in for a consultation, the artist will set up an appointment for you at the consultation, otherwise we can most likely book your appointment over the phone.
Q: Is there a fee for a consultation?
There is no fee for a consultation. If the tattoo is going to require a bit of artwork to be done, the artist may ask for a deposit towards your tattoo appointment. If you do not call or show for your appointment, the artist keeps the deposit.
Q: How old do you need to be to get a tattoo?
We tattoo folks 18 and older with proper ID
Q: Can my teenage child be tattooed with my consent?
Unfortunately no, Due to issues with insurance and licensing we are unable to tattoo minors.
Q: Is it true you will not tattoo someone if they are “under the influence”?
This is true, for many reasons it is never a good idea to get tattooed while drunk or stoned. If you appear to be under the influence, we will not tattoo you.
Q: Do you take walk ins?
Yes we do, however we can’t guarantee that an artist will be available, it is best to call ahead.
Q: Do you take credit cards?
Yes, we do take credit cards with valid ID.
Q: Do I tip my tattoo artist?
